PORTRAITS OF BOSCOMBE - BEAF ARTS FESTIVAL
In June 2023 I was commissioned by BEAF Arts Co in Bournemouth to create a camera obscura and darkroom in Boscombe Arts Depot and to use them to capture a series of portraits of the community during the 8 day festival. Members of the public were posed in front of the camera and then invited inside to participate in the development of their image. In total 108 portraits were created which filled the gallery space as the festival progressed.
The obscura was built as a permanent resource and remains at Boscombe Arts Depot as a teaching and engagement space now run by the volunteers who assisted and were trained by myself during the festival.
